FUJAHTIVE
Fujahtive is one of Canada's leading Reggae bands. The Toronto-based group began in 1986 and have developed a name for themselves as a stellar Roots Reggae act. Over the years, Fujahtive has opened for top international performers like Burning Spear, Shabba Ranks, Black Uhuru, Judy Mowatt, Sly & Robbie, and many more. Popular with Canadian audiences from coast to coast, Fujahtive has received critcal acclaim with a 1995 JUNO nomination, for their album The Sound, and several CFNY CASBY Award nominations. In addition, they won the Canadian Reggae Music Awards Best Album of the Year award for their 1991 debut independent recording In Black and White. Their hit single Send Fi Mi Girl drew new audiences as nationwide airplay on Canadian community radio stations and unprecedented video support of a Canadian Reggae band on MuchMusic.
LAZO
For over 13 years, Dominican-born singer/songwriter Lazo has
been performing his distinctive Roots Reggae for audiences around the world. Conscious lyrics,
soulful vocals, and nique melodies fuse with the diverse influences of Reggae, Calypso, and Zouk
to create the powerful sound which resulted in Lazo inking a recording and distribution deal with
Washington, DC-based RAS Records (& DENON Canada). Performing since childhood,
Lazo is a multi-talented instrumentalist who has shared the stage with Maxi Priest,
Third World, The Wailers, and others. In 1993 Lazo was recognized
at the Canadian Reggae Music Awards as Top Reggae Performer of the Year.
Recently he received a 1995 JUNO Award nomination for his latest CD Something
Real.
