Welcome to the first issue of konekshuns...
konekshuns is a cultural and media communications virtual vision
creation. The concept is built around a radio program I used to produce
on CKLN 88.1 FM called Ghetto Music, after my fave BDP song, and Griot Galaxy.
I embraced the titles Ghetto Music and Griot Galaxy because they spoke volumes
about the realities of Black people. Combining the oral, music, performance
and visual arts traditions with radio technology, I developed Ghetto Music
and Griot Galaxy as exciting audio experiences. I profiled the music, art
and activities of people and events related to the contemporary and historical
lives of African peoples, with lots of FUNK thrown in. I tried to redefine
and enliven the FUNK. konekshuns.com reverberates with that spirit.
